Web Commerce in 2025

Ecommerce is becoming more interesting with evolving AI features that can assist with everything from customer support to sales related tasks. AI is not so much replacing the workforce as it is augmenting it so that developers and customer care specialists and work on higher level tasks.

Alot has happened since the pandemic and the next 5 years will prove to be very interesting as technology continues to develop.

Ecommerce in Canada is alive and well.

Happy New Year 2020

Web Commerce Canada wishes you all the best in 2020 and beyond.

Ecommerce continues to grow year over year – now you can even order a car online that can be delivered to you in a few hours. You won’t even need to go visit the car vending machine anymore…

Amazon has set the bar for fast shipping and weekend delivery too. Fedex is now getting into the 7-day delivery fray and the net benefit will be that we can all receive items sooner, and even on the weekends.

Fedex did not do so well recently as Amazon was prohibiting sellers from using the shipper due to fierce competition between Amazon’s home grown last mile shipping and Fedex. UPS may be the short term net beneficiary, though Fedex will improve again by 2021 according to CEO Fred Smith.

Ecommerce companies continue to use all the available shipping options including Canada Post, USPS, Fedex, UPS, DHL, CanPar and others.

However you are shipping or receiving goods in 2020, we wish you all the best. Happy New Year 2020 and look for a delivery drone or driverless delivery vehicle at your door in the near future.

2019 Brings Expansion of Ecommerce Giants

Worldwide, online giants are getting even bigger.  Not just Amazon and Ebay, but Chinese conglomerates who will one day surpass many other companies in overall top line revenue.

How can the medium size firm compete?  By implementing a multi-prong approach to managing the dozens of online and mobile touch points of qualified customers.

Online marketing can transcend email marketing and include being present wherever customers are searching for your products and services.

For a long time, many of the large ecommerce companies have actually lost money because of razor thin margins and a focus on customer acquisition, but lately even Amazon is running in the black.

Enjoy Ecommerce heading into 2020 – and watch for technological changes that can disrupt the current, early stage ecommerce environment.  AI commerce anyone?  Coming soon and we are actively working on the development of Ecommerce stores and platforms for the next decade.

Bring Your Store Online

Brick and mortar stores are feeling the sound of competitors whooshing by their long established retail stores. Even the big box stores are getting into the game of selling online.

One advantage is that your target market expands exponentially.

Many retail stores are disadvantaged because they hang onto the old school way of thinking that their only market is within 10 clicks of their retail shop.  The problem is that customers shop online more frequently than ever before and also compare prices online.

The other disadvantage that store owners have is high overhead.  These costs must be factored into the products sold, but online retails often do not have many of these costs and so products tend to become commoditized.
